I got two real quick things: La Salle has been very strange since the basketball players were arrested for rape over the summer (and yesterday) so the school instituted a new rule into the dorms, apartments, and townhouses. (Note, i dont live on campus so this doesnt apply to me). The new rule is that you cant have someone of the opposite sex in your room from midnight to 12pm, and you cant sign in anyone of the opposite sex after i think 10. Everyone except the faculty is pissed off, including the RSA (resident student association) and the RA and CAs, so they held a rally last night. The best part of this was the chants: "No beer, no sex, whats next" and "No ass, No class!"
The other thing is a comencement speech i got from my brother via email. It was Jon Stewart speaking to the graduates of i think 2004 William and Mary. Its worth a read, its pretty fucking funny. It can be found here.

I was home for the last day and a half and basically every conversation i started had something to do with politics in it. Since its an unusually slow Friday Night here at La Salle, i guess i should explain my thoughts on this election. You should note that these are my opinions, everyone is entitled to their opinions, and if you disagree or agree i dont feel like talking about this again; with that said please do not IM or E-mail me your objections or praises on this (that is unless i ask). I really am starting to despise talking politics, so consider this my final stance on things even if my opinions change.
I am a democrat, i believe in a more liberal way of life, that being the fact that you should help people who are down and out rather than just step over them. I am for a woman's right to abortion. I have no problem with gay people getting married, what people do in their private lives is for them and their families only not everyone else. With all of these said let me tell you that i do not like President Bush because of any of these things. My problems with Bush start on a personal level, and lead into more elaborate things. I guess I should start from the top. Four years ago before the election in 2000, i said that Bush was too stupid to be president. Now its 2004, and i think basically the same thing. The man is dumb as a rock, he can't speak coherantly and he makes this country seem like everyone is either as dumb or even more so by us electing him. Even worse than his stupidity is his close-mindedness, and stuburness. He is like a retard trying to open a painted on door. Even worse is his policies, everything is about money for him, yet he is like a 14 year old girl when her daddy gives her the credit card for the day. He went into office with the largest surplus in history and spent it in 2 months. Now after 3 years and 10 more months he will (hopefully) leave office with the largest deficeit ever. Someone needs to tell him to pay for a $87 Billion war you will need to raise taxes. Which leads me to my next point, lowering taxes really helped did it? The people who made less than $40K a year got a whopping several hundred dollars back. That tax break was only for the rich who didnt need it. Am I the only one who thought it was ingenious for the Clinton administration to raise taxes on the Upper class to widen the middle class? I guess so.
Now, in all my arguments with Bush supporters their greatest argument is always "He's stopping terrorist attacks!" Well maybe he should have read the dosier that was given to him months ahead of time before September 11, 2001. And just because we haven't had a terrorist attack since doesnt mean he has done anything. I'll use an analogy from the simpsons to make a point: If i had a rock and said it kept away tigers, just because there are no tigers around doesn't mean its working. Before September 11, the last terrorist attack (on the same magnitude of 9/11) in the US was the failed attempt to bomb the Twin Towers in '93, and before that was the Oklahoma City Bombing. I was a little kid when those happened. I don't even remember them. And if you think that America is any safer now than before 9/11 you're wrong, its more hostile. When 9/11 happened, Bush in the following months went on to alienate all but 1 of our major allies. The french didnt want to help us in Iraq, does that mean we should start calling food that has the French title in it Freedom? No, we aren't at war with France. They were smart to stay out of Iraq, now we'll be there for 10 years and we'll be the ones suffering the entire time. I am not going into my theory of the only reason to go into Iraq is oil because if you don't believe it by now than you are a sucker.
Okay, now there is Kerry. Don't get me wrong, I dont like him either. He just has the wrong ideological view on things. Kerry says what he thinks people want to hear, where he should say what he wants to say. He is running the worst campaign by an opponet ever and if Bush loses the election it would be an act of God. He just isn't likeable. But in this case, he is the lesser of two evils. I agree with him on a lot of his policies and i think that if he actually did what was on his mind rather than trying to please an amount of people that will never all accept him at once he'd be better off. I am going to vote for him, but i'm not very happy about it.
Before I finish this up let me just bring up some third party issues which i liked. I read Michael Badnarik's (libertarian party) stance on the issues. There were some things i didnt like which i'm not going to even mention, but there were some things that i liked - for one - dropping the war on drugs. My economics professor explained this in class: drugs aren't a supply problem they are a demand problem. You take away the security of getting drugs in the country, the demand will go down and less people will use them. I'm not saying get rid of the laws, just dont have such tight security along the borders when it comes to drugs. Take that money that you are saving on that and put it into after school programs to keep kids away from drugs in the first place. There are more but i'm having trouble finding them again, so if i find them i'll update this post.
The last thing i have to say is, if you are over 18 please vote, if you agree with me or not this is your only way to pick your government.

I just saw the irony at its best: A college republican table set up blasting Dixie Chicks music. God i am already tired of this election, and its still one and a half months away.
Update: Shit, i gotta do a better job editing my posts. When my post is 1 sentence long, it should be flawless. Damn. That shit is wack.

Okay, the movie/music industry just lost its fucking mind. I am not talking about the RIAA and MPAA and shit like that, i'm talking about this
...entrepreneurial 'N Sync singer Lance Bass is getting ready to produce a big-screen take on "The Great Gatsby" with Paris Hilton as an updated Daisy Buchanan.
Now, dont get me wrong, i have never read The Great Gatsby, but its suppose to be one of America's finest novels ever concieved. First of all to have 'N Sync 'star' Lance Bass to produce it is bad enough but to cast Paris Hilton for anything other than being a shitty porn star is an act of lunacy. You can already mail this one in, it's going to suck. God I fucking hate pop culture... jesus.

Just a few things to mention. First, i had a post lined up but i dont like it and i deleted it. Second, if you want to e-mail me (not like any of you want to) i changed the link at the bottom so i dont get some stupid electronic spider that finds my email address and sends it. Anyway, just remove the NOSPAM part of it and it'll work. Tomorrow i am going to format the site so i dont have posts from August anymore on here. Maybe i'll post something good tomorrow.
